Make Our Forests Safe

The Commission of the European Union (EU) wants to support its partner countries in developing solutions for agricultural expansion while reducing its effect on deforestation and forest degradation. It does so through its new project “Sustainable Agriculture for Forest Ecosystems” (SAFE). Thus forests shall be preserved and local residents, especially indigenous communities, shall benefit from innovations in technology, organisation as well as on an institutional level.

The project is a Multi-Donor Action and is financed by the European Union and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Its implementation in e.g., Brazil, Ecuador, Indonesia, and Zambia is realized by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH as part of the BMZ project “Fund for the Promotion of Innovation in Agriculture (i4Ag)”.

The complete title of the project is “Reducing Deforestation and Forest Degradation through sustainable Agricultural Supply Chains and Improved Forest Governance”. It is proposed in the European Commission’s Action Document “Strengthening Forest Governance”.

AKRYL responsibilities for this project are Creative Work, Design, Layout, Branding, and Digital Storytelling.
